Ever since moving to Lawrence, Kansas, Erik and I have hosted a Holiday party at our home. I definitely inherited my love of ALL things Christmas (whats not to love about decorating, christmas music and treats?! ) from my mom, and Erik loves to cook – so this party is a ton of fun for us!
One of the things I love the most about the Holidays is tradition – honoring old and starting new. Erik and I got married in Salina, Kansas and had our reception at Smoky Hill Vineyards. Smoky Hill makes a “Christmas Wine” that we make as a hot mulled cider every year for our party. Its just as delicious as it sounds! Sadly, this is the last year Smoky Hill will be operating – so we mulled our last batch. We will have to think of a new signature drink for the years to come.
I only snapped a few quick photos, so my new years resolution this year will be to TAKE MORE PICTURES next year! Hosting and taking pictures will be a bit of a challenge, but I am going to make it happen.
Highlights from this years party: Erik learned the hard way that he should wear gloves while handling jalepenos. Wii bowling was in full swing, but thankfully there were no injuries involving our Christmas tree or red wine this year. A new Wii bowling champ emerged, defeating the multi-year title winner – which means next years tournament will be intense (read: I will need to relocate the tree and not serve any red wine). Madie and Truman were the grand finale of the party, making fashionably late appearances at the end of the evening. They were even kind enough to vacuum the floor! 🙂
NOTE: I would be remiss if I did not point out we had two very special Christmas party attendees who moved away and could not attend this year, tarnishing their perfect attendance record. Callie – we missed your sesame crackers and delicious dip! Erin – a party without your chocolate covered pretzels just isn’t the same! If both your beautiful faces show up next year, I will give you a “free pass” and reinstate your perfect attendance. 🙂 Love you both, can’t wait to see you SOON!
